Salt spray test of caster hardware
Salt spray test is to test the corrosion resistance of products after anti-corrosion treatment such as
paint, coating, electroplating, anodic treatment and antirust oil.
It is widely used in hardware, electroplating, electronics, chemical industry, automobile, aviation,
aerospace, communication and other industries to conduct corrosion tests on the materials and
coatings of products to simulate the marine environment, so as to analyze and evaluate the
performance of the tested products under specific environmental conditions.
The equipment needed to test casters is composed of spray nozzle, salt bucket, test piece support
frame, spray liquid collection container, laboratory (1), brine supply bucket, pressure bucket,
compressed air supply equipment and exhaust equipment, etc., and tested according to the
following conditions. Note (1): the size of the laboratory must be more than 0.48m3.
1.1 salt spray testing machine and its required pipeline should be made of pure material, which
can not affect the spray corrosion test or corrode itself.
1.2 spray nozzle should not directly spray the test solution to the sample, and the solution gathered
at the top of the spray chamber should not drop on the sample.
1.3 the test liquid dripping from the sample shall not flow back to the salt bucket for test;
1.4 compressed air shall not contain grease and dust, so air purifier shall be provided; The air
pressure must be kept at 0.1kgf/cm 2. Because the compressed air is endothermic when expanding,
it is necessary to pre heat (2) the following schedule to obtain uniform temperature spray.
(2):preheat to increase the temperature and humidity of compressed air;
2.1 test solution the test solution is prepared with sodium chloride (chemically pure and analytically
pure) and distilled water or deionized water with a concentration of 5%. The collected solution after
atomization shall not be reused except the baffle return part; Remarks: in order to prepare a salt
solution with a concentration of 5%, the mass of sodium chloride required can be calculated by the
following formula; Required sodium chloride mass = caster mass of 0.053 water, that is, it is
recommended to prepare 500g analytical pure sodium chloride per bottle for the preparation of test
solution.
Take 9500ml pure water from 5000ML antirust plastic bucket, pour it into a larger clean plastic bucket,
add 500g analytical pure sodium chloride prepared, and stir until it is completely melted. At this time,
the salt water concentration ratio is 5%.
3.1 the tested surface of the test piece shall not be directly sprayed by salt spray;
3.2 the placement angle of the specimen surface in the test chamber is very important. In principle, the
tested surface of the flat sample faces upward and forms an angle of 45 degrees with the vertical
direction; For irregular surface specimens, various placing states can be adopted to ensure that each
main surface can receive brine spray at the same time.
3.3 the arrangement of the test pieces should make the spray free fall to the surface of all the
specimens without impeding the free falling of the spray.
3.4 the test pieces shall not contact with each other, metal conductors or substances with capillary
effect, or other objects outside the support;
3.5 salt solution shall not drip from one test piece to the surface of other test pieces;
3.6 if the test piece has identification marks and other pastes, it shall be placed under the test piece
asfar as possible;
3.7 for a new test or a test with a total test specimen of more than 96h, the tested sample can be
allowed to shift. In this case, the number and frequency of shifts shall be determined by the operator,
but shall be indicated in the test report;
3.8 the support of the specimen shall be made of inert non-metallic materials, such as glass, plastic
or coated wood products. The material for hanging the specimen shall not be metal, but artificial fiber,
cotton fiber or other inert insulating materials.
4. Initial test of test piece
4.1 the surface of the test sample for appearance and structure inspection must be clean without oil
stain, damage, temporary protective layer and other defects;
4.2 electrical performance inspection if the electronic and electrical castor products are tested asa
whole, the electrical performance must be inspected and the test data must be recorded before
the test.
